HD DVD and Blu-ray: Toward an Endgame
There are (depending on who you believe) 4, 5 or 6 million PS3s sold. It doesn't take a huge fraction of that number to buy BD movies to produce the 'lead' we have seen & can still see. But it's a shrinking lead (cos as HD DVD stand-alones grow their higher attachment rates come into play) and effectively being a 'on-hit-wonder' BD has shot it's bolt & hasn't got another 'PS3' to rely upon. Unfortunately for the Blu-ray gang the PS3 game console really is being used just for games a damned sight more than they counted on. PS3 is a torjan horse but not as good a one as the BD crew imagined. "my Honda/Daewoo comparison is JUST like your argument" - No it isn't. "you said that Blu-ray only has a sales lead because of the PS3...and I say Honda only sells more cars because of the Accord" - Er no.
The Morning After
Even if a miracle happens and Obama is nominated, it's still Bush-Lite. The deck is stacked, coming & going. The ruling class strategy is to force the public to choose between 2 "candidates" who have been thoroughly vetted in advance, & are both entirely acceptable to the rulers. Since the rulers' interests conflict with ours, we can't win by choosing either of these things. We are like prisoners in a brutal prison camp that's staffed by both a "Night Shift" and a "Day Shift" of guards & wardens. Suppose the Night Shift seems a bit less brutal than the Day Shift. The Tories who come to blab on CD that we must be "practical" and vote for the "lesser evil" are like the prisoners who become bizarrely attached to the Night Shift, and insist that the best we can ever hope for is to have the Night Shift take over a larger share of camp management duties.
Forget.com, .TV could soon be your domain
Dear Dan: Our business is young, growing, and always looking for new ways to use the Web. We're especially interested in using videos and other rich media online. Are there any low-cost ways for a small biz to get something going? - New & Growing Dear New & Growing: Imagine a place where you can still secure a killer domain name for your business, product or service, book it for peanuts, and get all the tools to build your own customized rich media site - with videos, blogs, widgets, social networks, advertising and more - thrown in free. Fiction? Time warp? Nope, it's real, and it's here now at ChannelMe.tv, a potential-laden corner of the Web called .TV. But even parent company Demand Media, which so far has pitched it mainly to individuals, hasn't (yet) grasped the power its new platform could have for small business.

Most of us do more than our part as a family. TV, radio, computers, friends, teaching sex ed at 12 years old — all of this contributes also to negative upbringing.Schools need to stay in touch with the parents. Not all do. This year is middle school for us and it has been a definite struggle with communication.I feel for our great teachers as they are not paid enough. Robots could take over for the others as they seem to not have a heart.Clear Lake is a beautiful place to live, although for some reason we have too many chiefs. Take a look at what we really need. Hopefully we are making progress by electing School Board members that actually care and are not in it for a good time.Take a stand in your children and grandchildren’s education and future.(Superintendent Dwight Pierson), you say enrollment is still down.
Top-seeded Stanford reaches NCAA volleyball final against Penn State
SACRAMENTO, Calif.: Just when Asia Kaczor appeared poised to power Southern California past Stanford and into the NCAA volleyball championship, the Cardinal capitalized on two of her rare mistakes to save their season. Kaczor served long on match point and was blocked on the next play, then top-seeded Stanford finished off a thrilling 16-14 Game 5 win for a hard-fought 3-2 victory over its Pac-10 rival Thursday night. "It was an amazing match," Stanford coach John Dunning said. "They are about three times as good as the first time we played them." Stanford will play Saturday night against third-seeded Penn State (33-2), which swept No. 10 California (26-8) in the late semifinal. Nicole Fawcett had 13 kills for the Big Ten champion Nittany Lions, who won 30-28, 30-25, 30-16 in the first meeting between the schools — and have a 25-match winning streak since a 3-2 loss to Stanford on Sept.
